Eurowings unveils new Premium BIZ cabin

Eurowings has opened a new chapter in German aviation by introducing premium 2–2 seating in narrow-body aircraft for the first time on the domestic market. The new product, branded Premium BIZ, debuted on 22 November with a sold-out inaugural flight from Berlin to Dubai, confirming strong passenger interest in enhanced comfort on medium-haul routes.

The new configuration is installed on the Airbus A320neo, replacing the standard 3–3 layout in the forward section of the cabin with an exclusive 2–2 arrangement, creating a total of eight premium seats. With this step, Eurowings – a value-oriented carrier – is introducing a product previously unseen in Germany’s narrow-body fleet.

At the heart of the upgrade is the “Comoda” seat from Italian manufacturer Geven, custom-designed in Eurowings’ color scheme. In addition to significantly more personal space, the seat features a leg rest, USB power outlets, a pillow and blanket, as well as an amenity kit and a hot towel. An integrated cocktail table and a dedicated storage compartment further enhance the practicality of the premium space.

“With the Premium BIZ seat, we are sending a strong message about the need for bold innovation in the value segment,” said Eurowings CEO Jens Bischof. “We are proving that premium comfort does not have to be tied exclusively to expensive long-haul products — it can be offered on an efficient short- and medium-haul aircraft as well. The sold-out inaugural Dubai flight clearly shows that we are striking the right chord with our customers.”

Support also came from Berlin Brandenburg Airport’s CEO, Aletta von Massenbach, who noted that the product launch in Berlin underscores BER’s status as a strong and attractive hub. According to her, the added comfort on this popular Gulf route appeals to both business and leisure travellers.

Alongside the physical product, Eurowings has upgraded its inflight service. Upon boarding, passengers are welcomed with an aperitif, nuts or olives, and sparkling wine. The main meal is served on porcelain: outbound flights offer two warm breakfast options with fruit salad and muesli, while inbound services feature a choice between vegetarian and non-vegetarian dinner options, including salad and dessert. After the meal, the full WINGS Bistro menu is available.

The Premium BIZ seat complements the existing BIZclass (with a free middle seat and increased legroom) as well as the SMART and BASIC fare options. The new service is being introduced gradually and is available on the Berlin–Dubai route from €399.99 per direction.

This product is part of a broader investment and service initiative within Eurowings, and the insights gained will also help shape future cabin concepts across the Lufthansa Group.
