Croatian carrier ETF Airways today presented its new ATR 72-600 aircraft in Zadar — the fourth in its fleet — marking the beginning of a new phase of development and the establishment of an operational base in the city. This move represents the company’s long-term commitment to the Croatian market and further strengthens its local presence.
Alongside the aircraft presentation, ETF Airways also announced the formation of two new sister companies – ETF Technics and ETF Travel. ETF Technics will specialize in aircraft maintenance and the development of safety standards, with its headquarters in Zadar, creating new technical jobs and supporting the growth of the local aviation industry. ETF Travel will focus on charter operations and services designed for aviation professionals, further diversifying the company’s business portfolio.
“We want Croatia to become an aviation power, providing high-quality and recognizable services to clients from around the world,” said Stjepan Bedić, CEO of ETF Airways, emphasizing that investing in Zadar is a strategic step connecting the company’s operational and development goals.
Representatives of ATR, the aircraft manufacturer, expressed their satisfaction with the return of their type to the Croatian market. “We are delighted to see ATR back in Croatia. This aircraft will enhance regional connectivity and economic growth while offering passengers the latest generation flying experience. At the same time, by reducing CO₂ emissions by one-third, it supports sustainable and responsible air transport growth,” said Kjetil Astad, ATR’s Sales Director for Europe.
The initiative has also been welcomed by Zadar Airport, whose director Josip Klišmanić stated: “This marks the beginning of a new cooperation that we see as a major opportunity for development. Our goal is to contribute to the local community and foster aviation growth through education, the university, and the airport itself. I am confident that, together, we can show that Zadar can become a hub for aviation development in Croatia.”
Founded in 2020, ETF Airways has quickly built a reputation for its flexible business model and the expertise of its operational staff, many of whom are active pilots and industry professionals. The company has recorded steady growth in recent years, and the introduction of the new ATR 72-600 and the establishment of a Zadar base underline its ambitions to become one of the key players in Croatian aviation.
