easyJet has announced plans to introduce onboard internet connectivity for the first time in its history. In partnership with SpaceX, the European low-cost carrier will equip its aircraft with Starlink, with installation scheduled to begin in the first half of 2027 and be completed by early 2028.

The announced rollout covers Airbus A320, A320neo and A321neo aircraft. Internet access will allow passengers to browse the web, stream videos, play online games and work during their flights using their own devices. Starlink relies on satellites in low Earth orbit, and according to SpaceX, connectivity will be available from take-off to landing.

By introducing the service, easyJet aims to enhance the travel experience and attract additional business and leisure passengers. The carrier, which carried 100 million passengers in 2025 according to the press release, presents onboard connectivity as a way to offer greater choice and convenience. However, the announcement does not specify whether access will be free or paid, nor does it outline any potential usage packages.

Alongside entertainment and work, passengers will be able to access easyJet’s app and website during their flights to check travel information. Connectivity will also allow them to look up details about their destination, including weather, local transport and tourist attractions. The airline also highlights the potential for passengers to order food and drinks using their personal devices in the future, although no timeline has been confirmed for introducing this feature.

easyJet CEO Kenton Jarvis said connectivity was becoming increasingly important to different groups of passengers, from those wishing to enjoy entertainment during their journey to business travellers needing to stay in touch with developments on the ground. He said the partnership with SpaceX would allow the airline to expand the range of services passengers consider when choosing a flight.

SpaceX President and Chief Operating Officer Gwynne Shotwell said Starlink would enable easyJet passengers to work, stream content and stay in touch throughout their journeys, supported by fast and reliable internet access.

Although easyJet refers broadly to connectivity across its fleet in the introduction to its press release, the specific installation plan lists only the A320, A320neo and A321neo. The Airbus A319 is not included in the announced list, while further details on the installation schedule and the first routes to offer the service have yet to be released.
