Croatia Airlines welcomes sixth Airbus A220-300

Croatia Airlines’ fleet has today been joined by its sixth Airbus A220-300, registered 9A-CAP and carrying the name of the city of Zadar. The newest aircraft departed Airbus’ factory in Mirabel, Canada, on August 29 at 19:45 local time, and after a stop in Copenhagen, landed in Zagreb today at 12:10.

This A220-300 is the sixth of the type in the fleet, arriving in Zagreb two months after the previous one, 9A-CAM “Rijeka,” which landed on June 25, followed by another, 9A-CAN, on June 27. Their arrival marks an important step in the modernization process through which the national carrier is gradually replacing older aircraft types.

Croatia Airlines now operates a total of six A220-300s, and another new A220 is expected to join the fleet during 2025. That final delivery of the year will also be the airline’s first smaller A220-100, which is already scheduled to operate flights in the upcoming winter timetable.

The entire fleet renewal project is planned to be completed by 2027, at which point Croatia Airlines will operate a total of 15 Airbus A220s – thirteen of the larger A220-300s and two of the smaller A220-100s.
