In the next two months, Croatia Airlines will provide additional support to the initiative of the Zagreb Tourist Board, which promotes the Croatian capital as a pet-friendly destination.
Owners of dogs and cats, who will use Croatia Airlines aircraft during their travels during November and December, have special benefits and additional services available, one of which is an increase in the number of pets allowed for transportation in the passenger cabin of the aircraft. In the mentioned period, instead of two pets on a single flight, the national airline allows the transport of three dogs or cats.
At the same time, pet owners are offered a 20 percent discount on the dog or cat transport service, and they also have special package arrangements available from the broadcast markets of the travel agency Obzor travel, which include return air tickets, accommodation in one of Zagreb’s four pet-friendly hotels (2, 3 or 4 days), pet and transfer from the airport to the city and vice versa.
“Pet owners represent an increasingly important segment of travelers in the tourism industry, and their specific behaviors, needs, and expectations specially shape the travel market. Thanks to numerous green areas, pet-friendly facilities and a pet-friendly atmosphere, Zagreb is a city where pets and their owners can enjoy. That’s why we joined the TZ initiative of the city of Zagreb, with which we want to make our capital an ideal pet-friendly destination on the tourist map of the world,” said Jasmin Bajić, president of Croatia Airlines.
The pet travel sector has been growing in recent years due to increased awareness of the importance of pets as members of the family and according to some research has reached billions of dollars in value, with continuous annual growth. In Europe, more than half of the households have a pet.
The Tourist Board of the City of Zagreb recognized these contemporary trends and created a specialized website www.infozagreb.hr/hr/ljubimci-zagreba, where information on the advantages of Zagreb as a pet-friendly destination is gathered.
“Back in the spring, the Tourist Board of the City of Zagreb launched a promotional campaign and specialized websites, where information related to the possibilities and obligations for all travelers with pets is gathered in one place. Namely, traveling with pets requires detailed planning, therefore on our pages can find a list of so-called pet-friendly accommodation and catering facilities, veterinary services, as well as dog parks, salons, and cultural institutions that allow pets in. According to research, more than 50% of travelers around the world take their pets with them on vacation In this sense, we are especially glad that we have now expanded our promotional cooperation with Croatia Airlines, which further highlights our city as a recognizable destination that welcomes visitors with pets,” said Martina Bienenfeld, director of the Zagreb Tourist Board.
