Croatia Airlines: 30th anniversary of the Vienna – Zagreb route

On January 17th 2023, the Croatian national airline Croatia Airlines, celebrated the 30th anniversary of flying on the Vienna – Zagreb route. Below is the Croatia Airlines’ public announcment.

“The Croatian national airline made its first flight on the route from Zagreb to Vienna on January 17, 1993, and since then has continuously connected the capital of Croatia with Vienna as an important European transport hub. In the current winter flight schedule, Croatia Airlines planes directly connect the capital cities of Croatia and Austria twice a day.

On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the direct Zagreb-Vienna route, a special ceremony was held today at Vienna Airport after the landing of Croatia Airlines flight OU440. On that occasion, Julian Jäger, a member of the Vienna Airport Board, pointed out:

  • “Croatia Airlines has been flying from Vienna for thirty years and currently does so fourteen times a week. This air connection strengthens the close tourist connection between Austria and Croatia and the role of Vienna as an international center. With Croatia’s entry into Schengen, it will be even easier for passengers to fly to Croatia via Vienna Airport in the future. We welcome this decision, which creates even more freedom of travel within Europe.”
  • “I am glad that today we are celebrating a valuable jubilee, the 30th anniversary of the direct flight route Vienna – Zagreb, and I sincerely thank the partners from Vienna Airport for the quality cooperation over the past three decades. The Austrian market is a very important market for Croatia Airlines, because as part of this cooperation, our passengers upon arrival in Vienna have favorable opportunities for transfer flights to destinations around the world, and at the same time, we provide Austrian citizens with the fastest transport connection to Croatia as a tourist destination throughout the year.

– said Mato Radić, Croatia Airlines’ sales market manager for Central Europe.”
