AvioRadar is expanding its team and opening two positions for candidates who want to gain experience working in a specialised media outlet or contribute to aviation coverage through paid freelance work.

The open positions are Editorial Assistant, a volunteer role, and Correspondent, a paid freelance position focused on producing original aviation-related articles.

Editorial Assistant

The Editorial Assistant position is a volunteer role and is particularly suitable for secondary-school and university students who want to gain practical experience working in digital media.

The position may also be suitable for students of journalism, communications, public relations and related fields and, depending on the rules of their educational institution, may qualify as professional or student work experience.

Previous aviation knowledge is not required for this position.

The Editorial Assistant will primarily perform technical and organisational tasks related to the day-to-day operation of the website, including preparing and publishing articles that have already been written and edited, working within the content management system, suggesting potentially interesting topics for future coverage and assisting with other operational tasks related to the media outlet.

The Editorial Assistant does not assume authorial responsibility and does not participate in the creation of original editorial content. Writing, editing and final preparation of journalistic articles remain the responsibility of AvioRadar’s authors and editorial team.

A good command of English is mandatory, primarily because the role involves regular work with international sources, announcements and other materials.

Volunteer hours are formally recorded in accordance with the Croatian Volunteer Act. AvioRadar’s publisher, Nordstorm Aviation d.o.o., issues an appropriate certificate confirming the completed volunteer work or records the hours in the volunteer booklet.

Applicants for the volunteer position must be at least 16 years old. Applicants under the age of 18 must also submit written consent from a parent or legal guardian together with the rest of their application.

Correspondent

The second open position is for a freelance correspondent, intended for authors who are able to independently cover specific areas of aviation and produce original articles.

Correspondents may cover civil and/or military aviation, airlines, airports, aircraft manufacturers, technical topics, business aviation, general aviation or other relevant areas.

Candidates for this position are expected to have good knowledge of aviation, either from a technical perspective or through detailed knowledge of current developments in civil and/or military aviation.

Applicants should be capable of independently finding and verifying relevant information and presenting it in a clear, accurate and well-structured manner. Previous journalistic experience is an advantage but is not mandatory if the candidate has the necessary subject knowledge and is able to communicate it effectively through original written content.

A good command of English is mandatory.

The position is freelance and paid, with compensation calculated per standard page of original written content.

Participation in aviation events

Candidates in both positions will have opportunities to attend relevant aviation events, conferences, trade shows, presentations, professional gatherings and other events covered by AvioRadar as a specialised media outlet.

For correspondents, depending on editorial needs, this may include reporting from events, speaking with industry representatives and preparing original articles directly from the event location.

For Editorial Assistants, participation in such events provides an opportunity to become familiar with the work of a media outlet and the aviation industry without assuming authorial or journalistic responsibility.

Work equipment provided

AvioRadar provides candidates engaged in both positions with an official laptop for work purposes, as well as access to the tools required to carry out their respective duties.
