American aircraft leasing company Aviation Capital Group (ACG) has signed an agreement with Airbus for the purchase of 75 new narrowbody aircraft from the A320neo Family. This represents the largest single order in the company’s nearly 40-year history, bringing its total orders for aircraft from this family to 190 units.
ACG, headquartered in Newport Beach, California, is an international provider of aircraft leasing and asset management services. The new order forms part of its long-term strategy focused on investing in next-generation aircraft, which are in high demand among airlines worldwide.
Thomas Baker, President and Chief Executive Officer of ACG, emphasized that the order reflects confidence in the long-term development of air transport.
“Our portfolio strategy is focused on new-technology narrowbody aircraft that are most in-demand with airlines globally. Placing the largest order in our nearly 40-year history is a statement of confidence in the long-term future of air travel and in ACG’s important role as a conduit between airlines, aircraft and capital,” Baker said.
The partnership between ACG and Airbus dates back to 2007, when the American company placed its first aircraft order with the European manufacturer. The new agreement further strengthens their business relationship and enables ACG to continue taking deliveries of A320neo Family aircraft throughout the next decade.
Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus Executive Vice President Sales of Commercial Aircraft, emphasized that the investment reinforces the long-standing partnership between the two companies and will allow ACG to continue offering A320neo Family aircraft to its customers well into the 2030s.
The Airbus A320 Family is the world’s best-selling family of single-aisle passenger aircraft, with more than 20,400 orders worldwide. Its latest generation includes the A320neo and A321neo models, which, thanks to modern engines and aerodynamic improvements, deliver at least 20% lower fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions compared with previous-generation aircraft, according to Airbus.
ACG’s latest order highlights the importance of aircraft leasing companies in financing airline fleet renewal. This business model allows airlines to access new aircraft without having to purchase them outright, while providing leasing companies with long-term business opportunities in a market increasingly focused on more efficient narrowbody aircraft.
Airbus did not specify the breakdown between the A320neo and A321neo models included in the order, nor did it announce the planned delivery schedule for the 75 aircraft.
