Avelo Airlines orders up to 100 Embraer E195-E2s

Avelo Airlines has made a major step in expanding and modernizing its fleet by signing an agreement with Embraer for the purchase of up to 100 E195-E2 aircraft. The deal includes a firm order for 50 aircraft with options for an additional 50, with first deliveries expected in the first half of 2027. Based on list prices, the value of the order is estimated at USD 4.4 billion, excluding options.

With this move, Avelo becomes the first U.S. airline to introduce Embraer’s largest and most technologically advanced passenger aircraft, marking an important milestone for Embraer’s E2 program itself. The new E195-E2s will join the airline’s existing Boeing 737NG fleet, boosting operational efficiency and supporting further network expansion.

One of the key advantages of the E2 generation is its improved short-field takeoff performance, enabled by Embraer’s proprietary E2TS (Enhanced Takeoff System) technology. This will allow Avelo to open new markets and operate more efficiently at airports it already serves. In addition, the aircraft feature lower fuel burn, long range, and reduced noise levels, making them ideal for further network growth.

Avelo Airlines founder and CEO Andrew Levy emphasized that the new Embraers will bring added value to passengers: “We are thrilled to partner with Embraer and proud to introduce the best small narrowbody aircraft on the market to the United States. Our customers will enjoy comfortable 2-2 seating, power outlets, large overhead bins, and a quieter cabin. The performance, size, and efficiency of these aircraft are a perfect fit for the future growth of our network.”

Arjan Meijer, President and CEO of Embraer Commercial Aviation, highlighted that this represents a strategic leap for both sides: “The E195-E2 delivers a new level of profitable growth and an outstanding passenger experience. Avelo has found the perfect balance between its current narrowbody fleet and the new Embraers, and thanks to their efficiency, low noise, and short-field capabilities, new markets will open while maintaining the high level of comfort passengers love.”
