The capital of Croatia will host the first event of its kind with international participation in the region—AVIOMED Forum, taking place on October 24–25, 2025, at the Hotel Antunović. This gathering brings together experts and stakeholders from the aviation and medical fields, focusing on the health of aviation personnel.
Under the slogan “Building Bridges – Together for Health in the Aviation Industry,” this two-day forum brings together physicians, pilots, engineers, air traffic controllers, cabin crew members, and representatives from general aviation. The main goal is the exchange of knowledge, experience, and best practices in aviation medicine, as well as fostering stronger connections between healthcare professionals and operational personnel in air traffic.
As the first such event in the region with international participation, it offers a rich program of lectures and panel discussions. Topics covered include astronaut health, the specifics of helicopter and HEMS operations, the impact of circadian rhythms on performance, prevention of cardiovascular diseases in pilots and air traffic controllers, medication use in aviation environments, mental health, and new FAA guidelines.
The forum’s second day is dedicated to the practical aspects of work for various aviation groups, including flight and technical crews, air traffic controllers, ATSEP personnel, cabin crew, and general aviation enthusiasts. The focus is on workplace stressors, work-life balance, psychological resilience, and managing human factors (Human Factors) and fatigue (Fatigue Risk Management).
The organizers—Dr. Martina Elez, Dr. Domagoj Slavić, and Marinka Šimunović Gašpar, M.Sc. in Nursing and M.Sc. in Healthcare Quality Management, demonstrate an impressive level of ambition and dedication, offering not only a professionally designed program but also a social component through networking, healthy meal breaks, and a dinner gathering. This highlights the importance of interconnectedness among all stakeholders, not only for better health but also for safer and more efficient aviation.
At the end of the forum, participants will receive a certificate of attendance, and aviation medicine physicians can use accredited hours for license renewal. The registration is open until the event itself. More information about registration, fees, and the program is available on the organizer’s link.
