All Nippon Airways has presented a new Pokémon aircraft project to mark two major anniversaries: 30 years since the release of Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green, and 40 years since the launch of ANA’s international flights.
In cooperation with The Pokémon Company, ANA will gradually introduce three specially painted aircraft under the Pokémon Jet name. The first two aircraft, Pokémon Jet Red and Pokémon Jet Green, were unveiled on May 28, 2026, while the third, Pokémon Jet Blue, has been announced, but without further technical or operational details for now.
Pokémon Jet Red will be a Boeing 787-8, registered JA819A, which will primarily be used on domestic routes within Japan. It is expected to enter service at the end of July 2026. Pokémon Jet Green will be a Boeing 787-9, registered JA923A, intended for international routes, although the start date of its operations has not yet been confirmed.
The special paint scheme will not be limited only to the aircraft’s exterior. ANA is also announcing a broader Pokémon-themed passenger experience, including cabin and service elements such as headrest covers, paper cups and napkins featuring well-known characters from the franchise. The airline has also launched a dedicated website for the project.
ANA says the aim of the project is to bring the excitement and fun of travel closer to passengers, especially children and Pokémon fans around the world. The project continues a long-running cooperation between the Japanese airline and the Pokémon brand, which began in 1998, when ANA introduced the world’s first Pokémon Jet.
Since then, excluding the three aircraft now announced, a total of 11 ANA aircraft have carried special Pokémon paint schemes. These have included Boeing 747, 767, 777 and 787 aircraft, with the most recent one unveiled in 2023.
