On October 19, Embraer delivered the first E175 equipped with a new generation of RECARO passenger seats to American Airlines. The carrier has thus become the first airline in the United States to introduce these seats on E175 aircraft, as part of the continued cabin modernization of its regional fleet.
The new seats feature a slimmer profile which, according to the manufacturer, provides more personal space and knee room while maintaining cushion comfort. The contemporary design and ergonomic improvements form part of Embraer’s investment in enhancing the E175 cabin, bringing the passenger experience closer to that offered by the newer E2 aircraft family.
Arjan Meijer, President and CEO of Embraer Commercial Aviation, emphasized that the E175 has continuously evolved over the years to meet the needs of airlines and passengers. He described the introduction of the new RECARO seats as a continuation of investment in the aircraft type, aimed at improving the passenger experience and creating additional value for operators.
For American Airlines, the delivery forms part of a broader effort to achieve greater consistency in service quality across its regional flights and the rest of its network. Rhonda Crawford, Senior Vice President of Customer Experience Design and Strategy, said the airline aims to raise the standard of regional travel with the new seats while providing passengers with a more consistent travel experience.
Alongside cabin enhancements, Embraer continues to develop technological improvements for the E175. These include enhanced data connectivity and next-generation weather radar, designed to improve operational capabilities, crew situational awareness and efficiency throughout the aircraft’s lifecycle.
The E175 has been in service for more than two decades, with the North American regional market remaining one of its key strongholds. The latest delivery demonstrates that, alongside the development of the E2 family, Embraer continues to invest in modernizing the existing E175 platform.
