ACI announces full aviation recovery in 2024

According to ACI (Airport Council International), and as the portal Simple Flying reports, aviation should fully recover in 2024, when global traffic of 9.4 billion passengers is expected. Namely, aviation and passenger traffic are still recovering from the Covid-19 pandemic, and ACI claims that the year 2024 “is expected to be a milestone for global passenger traffic recovery as it reaches 9.4 billion passengers, surpassing 2019, which welcomed 9.2 billion passengers (102.5% of the 2019 level).”

ACI General Director Luis Felipe de Oliveira said factors favoring the recovery include the reopening of the Chinese market and an increase in domestic travel, supply chain disruptions that are gradually easing, and slowing inflation worldwide. They also state that, according to estimates, if there had been no pandemic, global traffic would have reached 10.5 billion passengers in 2023.
