A new wave of Boeing orders from Central and Eastern Asia

Boeing has announced a series of significant new orders from Central and Eastern Asia, confirming growing demand for its 787 Dreamliner and 737-8 models. The three separate agreements involve Air Astana from Kazakhstan, Somon Air from Tajikistan and Uzbekistan Airways from Uzbekistan.

Air Astana has selected up to 15 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners to modernize its widebody fleet and open new long-haul routes. Together with previously planned leased aircraft, the 787-9 fleet could reach up to 18 units, with the first delivery expected next year. The airline notes that the additional Dreamliners will support strong international network expansion, including transcontinental services.

Somon Air has committed to up to 14 aircraft, consisting of up to four 787-9s and up to ten 737-8 narrowbodies. This represents the most extensive next-generation fleet the airline has placed on order to date. The 787-9 will enable the launch of intercontinental operations from Dushanbe, while the 737-8 will provide fuel-efficient capacity on regional and medium-haul routes.

Uzbekistan Airways has finalized an order for eight more 787-9s, bringing its total Dreamliner order to 22 aircraft. Boeing highlights that the additional capacity and range of the model will allow the airline to expand its network beyond key markets and strengthen its presence on longer international routes.

The common thread among these agreements is robust regional growth and a clear shift toward more modern, fuel-efficient fleets that enable both network expansion and lower operating costs.
