Croatia Airlines, the Croatian national airline, and Lufthansa Technik, the world leader in aircraft, aircraft engine and aircraft maintenance services, today marked the 30th anniversary of successful business cooperation in the field of aircraft maintenance, ie 30 years of excellence and development.

Combining the strength of their brands, the knowledge of their employees, and their professional skills, these two companies have been successfully cooperating for 30 years in the field of aircraft maintenance and thus flight safety. Lufthansa Technik continuously maintains aircraft components and engines for the Croatia Airlines fleet, and experts from the Technical Sector of Croatia Airlines performed more than 210 major technical inspections on Deutsche Lufthansa aircraft as part of this cooperation. During the celebration of the 30th anniversary of cooperation, the President of the Management Board of Croatia Airlines, Jasmin Bajić, emphasized:
“Cooperation with Lufthansa Technik, a world leader in the field of technical maintenance of aircraft, aircraft components and engines, began with the creation of the Croatia Airlines fleet and our first international flight on the Zagreb-Frankfurt route in the spring of 1992. Over the past three decades, we have successfully collaborated and learned a lot, taking care at all times of the safety of our aircraft and passengers, which has always been our priority. Based on the knowledge taken from the top experts of Lufthansa Technik, our Technical Sector has become a center of excellence where the most demanding technical work is performed on aircraft of foreign carriers and our own fleet, and is recognized as a reliable partner worldwide.”
Kai Röpke, Vice President of Corporate Sales at Lufthansa Technik for the EMEA Region, said:
“The long-term partnership of our companies is an excellent example of successful international business and cooperation. Our shared understanding of high-quality work, our ability to respond flexibly to unexpected events, and our passion for providing the best service are key to the growth of both companies and the development of sustainable mutual success.”
The cooperation between Croatia Airlines and Lufthansa Technik is based on real partnership principles, ie the transfer of top knowledge and their improvement, and the joint creation of new models for the provision of technical maintenance services for aircraft, aircraft components, and engines.
Let us remind you that in 1992, Croatia Airlines purchased three Boeing 737-200 aircraft from German Lufthansa, and a Total Technical Support (TTS) contract was signed for the purchased aircraft. Cooperation with Lufthansa Technik has continued over the years by signing many agreements for the maintenance of aircraft components of various types of aircraft in the fleet of Croatia Airlines (Airbus, Dash 8-Q400) and has been continuously improved and expanded to achieve excellence.
With the departure of the first generation of Croatia Airlines inspectors to work at Shannon Aerospace in 2000, the exchange of employees began, which continued in the following years. In 2001, Croatia Airlines became the proud holder of the JAR 145 certificate, ie the authority to independently perform base and line maintenance of foreign aircraft at its technical center in Zagreb. In the same year, the first two C-inspections were performed on Lufthansa Airbus A320 aircraft. The level and scope of services have increased over the years, and in 2012 the internal capacities for aircraft maintenance were increased. There was no lack of activities even during the Covid-19 crisis when an addendum to all contracts for the maintenance of aircraft components was signed with Lufthansa Technik.
