[SQUAWK] Chinese Freight Boeing 747 Jumbo Jet at Zagreb Airport

On Tuesday, February 11th, a Boeing 747-400BDSF has arrived from Amsterdam to Zagreb Airport at late evening hours. This aircraft is owned by Chinese air carrier Suparna Airlines (Y8/YZR). It arrived to Zagreb to pick up humanitarian aid for China, and departured to China on Wednesday, February 12 after 2 p.m. with the flight number Y87413/YZR7413.

This aircraft was built in 1998 for Japanese air carrier ANA – All Nippon Airlines (NH/ANA). As a passagner aircraft, it was operated with Japanese registration JA402A until 2007. After that it was converted to freight aircraft. It is operated with Chinese registration B-2432 for a current Chinese air carrier since 2008. 

Suparna Airlines was founded in 2003 under previous name Yangtze River Express (Y8/YZR), and since 2017, they use their current name. Their majority owner is HNA Group, who also operates several other Chinese air carriers, including Hainan Airlines (HU/CHH). They have 4 freight planes of this type and 9 Boeing 737-300Fs in freight version. Beside these freight planes, they also have 9 Boeing 737-800s and two Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners for passanger operations. Suparna Airlines operates several regular freight routes from China to Europe. Passanger planes are mostly used for touristic flight operations on domestic Chinese routes.
