Saudia Cargo is continuing to expand its freighter fleet after signing an agreement with Boeing for four additional Boeing 777-200F aircraft. The move is part of a broader investment plan through which the Saudi national cargo carrier aims to increase capacity, strengthen its global network and further position itself within Saudi Arabia’s wider strategy to become a key logistics hub between East and West.

The first of the four new aircraft is expected to be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2026, while the remaining deliveries are scheduled to follow throughout 2027. The new freighters will join Saudia Cargo’s existing fleet, which already includes four Boeing 777Fs. According to available data, the company also uses additional freighter capacity through wet lease arrangements.

Saudia Cargo said the order is part of a plan to double its dedicated freighter fleet and strengthen its operational capabilities across a network of more than 90 destinations. In 2025, the company transported more than 570,000 tons of cargo and reported operational punctuality of more than 90 percent.

Loay Mashabi, CEO and Managing Director of Saudia Cargo, said the order represents a strategic milestone for the company and a continuation of its long-term vision to enhance capabilities and expand its global presence. He added that the four new freighters are “the first step” in a new phase of growth and expansion.

The order also aligns with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 and the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, through which Saudi Arabia aims to further establish itself as a global logistics hub. Thanks to its geographic position, the Saudi market is increasingly being positioned as a link between Asia, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

Boeing described the order as a continuation of its long-standing partnership with Saudia Group, which spans more than 75 years. Omar Arekat, Vice President of Commercial Sales and Marketing for the Middle East at Boeing Commercial Airplanes, said the order for the Boeing 777 Freighter confirms the aircraft’s performance and versatility in cargo operations.

The Boeing 777F is one of the most important widebody freighter aircraft in service today, particularly on long-haul routes and in the transport of large cargo volumes. Demand for such aircraft has been further supported in recent years by the growth of e-commerce, especially from China, as well as the recovery of the global air cargo market after a period of economic uncertainty.

For Saudia Cargo, the new order is not only an increase in the number of aircraft, but also a signal to the market that the carrier is entering a new phase of development. With additional Boeing 777Fs, the company will increase its control over capacity, reduce its reliance on external arrangements and strengthen its position in global cargo flows.
