Heart Aerospace relocates headquarters to the U.S.

Last month, Heart Aerospace, a developer of hybrid-electric aircraft, moved its administrative headquarters from Gothenburg, Sweden, to Los Angeles, California. This decision is part of a broader strategy to strengthen the company’s development activities in the United States, where preparations are underway for experimental flights of the Heart X1 prototype—scheduled for its maiden flight in 2025—and the future Heart X2 model.

Anders Forslund, co-founder and CEO of Heart Aerospace, emphasized that the relocation marks a new phase in the company’s development, with a focus on vertical integration and continuous technological improvements. “For the X2, we are developing key components such as batteries, actuation systems, software, and hybrid-electric hardware in-house. This approach will allow us to enhance our systems more rapidly, similar to what we’ve done with the X1 prototype, which has undergone extensive testing and major design updates since its initial unveiling in 2024,” Forslund said.

The move was also driven by strong financial performance, including a successful $107 million Series B funding round in 2024 and an additional $40 million in recent investments. To concentrate resources on U.S. expansion, Heart Aerospace made the decision to wind down its operations in Sweden.

“We are deeply grateful to our team in Sweden for everything we’ve achieved together and for the support we’ve received. However, as our customers, partners, and investors are increasingly concentrated in the U.S., we believe the logical next step is to focus all our operations here. By consolidating in Los Angeles, we can accelerate development, improve collaboration, and lay the foundation for long-term success,” Forslund added.

Last month marked key organizational changes for the company, including the final closure of its Swedish office and a full transition to the U.S. market. With its new headquarters in Los Angeles, Heart Aerospace continues working to set new standards in sustainable aviation, preparing for critical test flights in the coming years.
