RIJEKA AIRPORT: First regular international flight landed

After almost 3 months without regular flight operations, Rijeka Airport finally welcomed its first flight today, since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The flight from Riga by Latvian airBaltic landed at Rijeka Airport at 17:40. There were 112 passengers on board, which is almost 80% of the total capacity of the A220 aircraft, and 15 passengers on flight from Rijeka.

With the arrival of the first international flight after coronavirus crisis, the summer flying season at Rijeka Airport has officially started. In normal circumstances, it was supposed to begin on March 29th 2020, however, due to the declaration of a pandemic, all flights were postponed and some were even cancelled.

According to the current announcements by the airlines, the first seasonal flight of Eurowings from Dusseldorf is expected on June 20th, and from Hamburg on June 21st. In July, starting from July 2nd 2020, Transavia returns with flights to Eindhoven with as many as 3 times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Ryanair starts with flights to London on Mondays from July 6th 2020, and on Mondays and Fridays from August 3rd 2020. Flights to Frankfurt Hahn are planned for August.

The resumption of the domestic Trade Air flights to Osijek, Split and Dubrovnik starts next week, ie every Tuesday and Thursday from June 23rd. The establishment of new flights to Warsaw by LOT, and the re-establishment of flights to Berlin, Stuttgart and Cologne by Eurowings, and Munich by Croatia Airlines are also expected, but the final dates have not yet been confirmed. As for charter flights, the return of Enter Air flight to Paris is also expected, as well as the TUI flight to London in July – Rijeka Airport reports.
