Premium economy class was created more than 30 years ago

Did you know that EVA Air was the first airline in the world to introduce a “Premium Economy” cabin class back in 1991? This innovative product provided a new level of comfort and service between traditional Economy and Business classes, and has since been adopted by many other airlines around the world.

Today, many airlines offer the premium economy class in their passenger cabins. Within Europe, on narrowbody flights there is a kind of premium economy class on some carriers, but it doesn’t offer much more comfort than other classes of travel, it just offers a bit more legroom. Only in widebody aircraft is there a real difference between economy and premium economy class, where the seats are wider, offer much more legroom, and passengers have the option to take more luggage and get better catering.
