The Croatia Airlines plane on the flight to Sarajevo was not damaged by firearms

 

Croatia Airlines Bombardier DASH8-Q400 aircraft with registration number 9A-CQA landed at Sarajevo Airport last night at 22:35 local time, on a regular flight OU342 / CTN342 from Zagreb.

Upon landing, the aircraft crew reported damage to the fuselage.

“After receiving information that the regular inspection of the plane at Sarajevo Airport, which arrived on a flight from Zagreb, showed damage to the fuselage possibly caused by a firearm, the duty prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH requested an investigation with the presence of officials from the BiH Civil Aviation Directorate” it was reported for Klix.ba.

The plane is still at Sarajevo Airport, and the return flight to Zagreb has been cancelled.

“After the landing of Croatia Airlines Dash 8-Q400, which took off from Zagreb last night on the regular line Zagreb – Sarajevo and landed in Sarajevo at 10.50 pm, the damage was noticed on the fuselage and, in accordance with the usual procedures of the national airline, the necessary steps were taken.

A police investigation is currently underway, which aims to determine the necessary details related to the cause of the damage, and we will promptly inform the public about its completion.

The safety of passengers and crew was not endangered at any time, while the national airline was guided by the highest safety standards in this situation as well.

The damaged plane is currently at Sarajevo Airport, and all passengers from last night’s flight will be redirected by another plane to the next flight on the Sarajevo-Zagreb route.” – the airline said.

According to the preliminary findings of experts, there are no indications that the damage to the aircraft was caused by firearms. “The damage was caused by mechanical impact. The performed analysis determined that there were no traces of gunpowder particles or other traces that would indicate the action of the projectile from the firearm”, reads the statement of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH.
