Croatia Airlines and the Tourist Board of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County signed a cooperation agreement today in Rijeka, which refers to the promotion of direct international flights of the Croatian national carrier on Rijeka – Munich route in the 2022/2023 winter flight schedule.
The contract was signed by Slaven Žabo, director of commercial affairs of Croatia Airlines and Ph.D. Irena Peršić Živadinov, director of the Tourist Board of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, in the presence of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County Prefect Zlatko Komadina.
The Croatian national airline in the upcoming winter flight schedule, i.e. in the period from the beginning of November 2022 to the middle of January 2023, will continue to operate flights on the international route Rijeka – Munich. It is a regular seasonal line that was renewed in the summer of 2021 and on which planes flew during last year’s and this year’s tourist season, and thanks to the synergy of Croatia Airlines and the Tourist Board of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, passengers now have flights on this line for trips during the winter flight schedule. Flights will be operated three times a week – on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, and the route will be operated by Dash 8-Q400 aircraft with a capacity of 76 seats. Return air tickets for flights Rijeka – Munich are available on the website www.croatiaairlines.hr from 149 euros.
- I would like to thank the Tourist Board of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County for their support and understanding, and I believe that our joint product, as part of which we offer for the first time a direct air connection between the Gate of the Adriatic and the German market during the winter period, will be recognized by many Croatian and German travelers. It is known that Kvarner is one of the most favorite Croatian destinations for German tourists, and the extension of the seasonal flights on this line also represents an additional benefit for travelers from this part of Croatia, who will be able to travel directly to Germany in the winter period, or via Munich in more than 150 destinations around the world. We are also glad that, as a national airline, we are contributing to the development of the tourist potential of Kvarner and the city of Rijeka in this way, and at the same time we are strengthening the operations of Rijeka Airport – said Slaven Žabo, Director of Commercial Affairs of Croatia Airlines at the signing of the contract.
- The return of the year-round airline from Munich to Rijeka, after two very demanding pandemic years, was one of our goals that arose after last year’s series of meetings that we held at the initiative of our Tourist Board with representatives of the tourism industry. It was at these meetings that we decided, together with the economy, from which markets we have the greatest interest in establishing flights. We are certainly glad that Croatia Airlines, in its role as a national airline, accepted our proposal and that thanks to joint cooperation we will ensure the connection of our county with the Bavarian capital by mid-January 2023. For our region, Germany is the most important emission market from which we generate over 30% of the total tourist traffic, and it must be emphasized that compared to the record year 2019, guests from Germany still hold the first place and currently generate 13% more overnight stays! Among other things, the constant connection with Munich Airport, which is a hub for 150 other world destinations, is also important because as a region we become even more accessible to guests from all over the world – said Dr.Sc. Irena Peršić Živadinov, director of the Tourist Board of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County.
- I am glad that our national airline recognized the importance of maintaining direct weekly scheduled flights to the Bavarian capital and Munich airport during the winter months. I am satisfied that we managed to reach an agreement, as a result of which this Cooperation Agreement was signed today between Croatia Airlines and the Tourist Board of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County. The Primorje-Gorski Kotar County is one of the leading Croatian tourist regions and we are a destination that has all the prerequisites for year-round tourism. With these direct flights to our strongest broadcast market, Kvarner will be even more accessible to German guests. Many German citizens have real estate in our county, houses, boats, apartments, but also hotels and even entire hotel chains, companies or business interests, and I believe that they too will welcome this opportunity to have a direct flight to Rijeka Airport three times a week . For our passengers, a great advantage is the connection with the Munich airport, from which there are direct flights to as many as 150 destinations in the world. I hope that these Croatia Airlines flights from the Krk airport will be included in the year-round flight plan and that we will expand partnership cooperation with our national airline – said the prefect Zlatko Komadina.
