Aircraft lessor Icelease will expand its freighter portfolio with a Boeing 767-300BCF converted from a passenger aircraft. According to Boeing’s announcement on November 2, the agreement includes one firm conversion and options for two additional aircraft.
The first aircraft is scheduled to enter conversion in the first quarter of 2027, with delivery expected in the second quarter of the same year. The work will be carried out at ST Engineering’s facilities in Singapore. A signing ceremony took place on October 22 at the Cargo Facts Symposium.
The converted 767-300BCF will join the growing freighter portfolio managed by IAT Leasing, Icelease’s Dublin-based sister company. That portfolio already includes seven Boeing 737-800BCFs and other freighters leased to various customers.
Sigthor Einarsson, Managing Partner at Icelease, highlighted that the company’s relationship with Boeing spans more than twenty years and includes both new aircraft deliveries and freighter conversions. He described the new agreement as an important milestone for both leasing companies. Boeing said the agreement represents a continuation of their collaboration to meet demand in the global air cargo market.
According to the manufacturer, the Boeing 767-300BCF has a range of approximately 6,110 kilometres, or 3,300 nautical miles, with a payload of 57 tonnes. The BCF programme enables existing passenger aircraft to be converted for continued operation in the cargo sector.
Icelease has been operating for 21 years and shares common majority ownership with IAT Leasing. Since its establishment in late 2023, IAT Leasing has built a portfolio of approximately 40 narrowbody and widebody passenger and cargo aircraft. The aircraft are owned by four different equity partners and leased to airlines worldwide.
