Japanese airline group ANA Holdings has signed an agreement to purchase eight additional Embraer E190-E2 aircraft, bringing its total firm orders for the type to 23. The agreement formalises the fleet expansion decision announced on July 29, 2026, with delivery of the first aircraft scheduled for 2028.
The additional order builds on the original agreement signed in 2025 for 15 firm E190-E2 aircraft. Alongside its 23 firm orders, ANA Holdings retains options to purchase five more aircraft.
Koji Shibata, President and CEO of ANA Holdings, said the additional order supports the development of a sustainable regional network in Japan and reflects the group’s confidence in Embraer’s technology.
“This additional E190-E2 order accelerates our efforts to build a sustainable regional aviation network in Japan. It also underscores our confidence in Embraer’s technology to reduce both environmental impact and operating costs. We are excited to deepen our partnership, elevating regional connectivity and delivering a superior passenger experience across Japan,” Shibata said.
Arjan Meijer, President and CEO of Embraer Commercial Aviation, highlighted that the E2 family’s operating economics and fuel efficiency would support the Japanese group’s growth plans while offering passengers greater comfort and space.
The E190-E2 is part of Embraer’s E-Jets E2 family. The manufacturer highlights fuel efficiency, lower emissions and reduced noise levels among its advantages, alongside its ability to serve different markets. ANA Holdings links the acquisition to strengthening regional connectivity and reducing operating costs and the environmental impact of air transport.
Embraer E-Jets have been operating in Japan since 2009, with the manufacturer maintaining personnel in the country to support operators. ANA Holdings is Japan’s largest airline group, with members including All Nippon Airways (ANA) and low-cost carrier Peach Aviation.
